Enjoy the Wine Tasting – Florence
If you are planning a trip to Italy, perhaps one of your first stops should be Tuscany, which is one of the most beautiful regions in all of Italy. Tuscany is also home to many of the world’s most famous Renaissance art and architectural creations, which include the famed David statue, Botticelli’s iconic works at the Uffizi Gallery, and the Duomo in Florence.
Its lush natural landscape also encompasses the rugged Apennine Mountains and the beautiful olive groves on the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is here in Tuscany where you will find some of the finest wines in the world.
Florence has grown into a major wine-producing center in Tuscany, but Tuscany itself is not much of a wine tasting destination; that honor usually goes to nearby towns like Siena and Murano.
Florence sits on a peninsula surrounded by lagoons and lakes that offer vast amounts of inland water for crop and agricultural development. In addition to its wine production, Florence sees many business happenings, with Tuscany is a popular site for the annual Tuscany Wine Festival, held every June and dedicated to the wine-making region of Tuscany.
Florence is also home to one of the most important wine warehouses in Italy, a facility that has been owned and operated by Uffizi Gallery since estate since 1873. Florence’s wine market is so large and deeply diversified that Uffizi Gallery manages more than twenty different vineyards throughout Italy, employing over 800 employees and growing a huge wine collection.
The best part about the Uffizi Gallery is its long history as an institution, which traces its origins back to the reign of Pope Boniface VIII, who legalized private possession of wine in Italian universities. Through the ages, the Uffizi Gallery has expanded its collections to include almost every grape variety grown in Tuscany and is renowned for its wine tasting experience and its intimate market share.
